[overheard] no. 2

Two-year-olds say the funniest things!

holding his toy cell phone

A: Can we call Jesus?
Mama: Of course we can, he loves to talk to you!
A: Where is Jesus?
M: Jesus is in heaven, with his Daddy.
A: Where's my daddy?
M: Daddy's at work.
A: I miss my daddy!

Aaron and Mama are downstairs eating breakfast. Baby Susannah is upstairs sleeping in mama's bed. Baby sister wakes up and begins crying, so big brother runs up the stairs to comfort her. He climbs up onto the bed next to her...
A: Susannah's crying, Mama?
M: Yes, she's a little sad.
turning to his sister and stroking her hair
A: I know, I know... you miss Daddy, too!

Mama is sitting on the couch nursing Susannah. Aaron climbs up next to her and puts his hand on her "milk."
A: Look, mama! I'm feeding her!!

Susannah update :: two months

I'll probably say this every month, but I cannot believe how quickly the time is going. Our little tiny girl has now lost her newborn look, and, as Grandpa Lloyd said, is "becoming a baby."

Topping her list of milestones this month has to be some serious smiling. Her first little grin peeked out on December 26th, and while they do take a little work to coax out, once she gets going they really fly. In my very biased opinion, they are the most beautiful little girl smiles I've ever seen. :-) Sleeping has also been a skill greatly improved in the past month, with several 6-hour stretches during the night. She's consistently going 4 hours at a time, and I'm crossing my fingers that the trend continues.

Aaron continues to fall more and more in love with his baby sister. She is greeted with a myriad of phrases: "Hi, little girl!" being the most popular, followed by "Hi, cutie" or "Oh, precious!" Wonder where he hears those? Mama and Daddy are enjoying watching him grow into the best big brother ever. I don't know if there is anything more heart-warming than watching your children love each other.

Susannah, sorry to say, is not the supermodel her brother is. Not that she's any less beautiful... she just has no love for the camera. Photo sessions are short and sweet! So here are a few from her 2-month session...

Of course, my trusty assistant was there every step of the way to help (and yes, by "help" I do mean "get in the way"). Check out his creative technique!

She is one beautiful girl, wouldn't you say?

Sharing rocks!

Aaron's favorite Christmas gift by far has been his brand new guitar. If it isn't being "played" or dragged around, he's asking "Where my 'tar go?" He's totally infatuated. So it was really something when he laid his prized possession across his sister's lap and asked, "Wanna play 'tar wittle girl?"

Aaron, you are one rockin' big brother!
