Hooray for Summer!

There is nothing like feeling the grass tickle your feet or taking a bicycle around the block to remind you of the good reasons you live in the Midwest. After a long and snowy winter, we're lovin' our outdoor time!

She wasn't too excited to lay naked in the grass, but we did manage to get one smile out of her.

And as we finished up taking sister's photos, brother decided to hop on the two-wheeler recently outgrown by our next-door neighbor, and he's now mastered riding with training wheels. It was absolutely unbelievable to watch him practice, practice, practice all those times up and down the sidewalk. Once he got the hang of it, he was hollering things like, "Move away, people! Coming through!" and "Look out, I'm going fast!". So hilarious!

Neither Mike nor I can believe our little baby boy is getting so big, and as Aaron and Daddy went on their very first bike ride together last night, I couldn't help but feel a big mix of pride and sadness. He's growing up, almost as fast as he can ride that bike. :-)

She really can't be this old, can she?

Six months already? Seems impossible to me. As Mike and I crawled into bed last night, we looked at the clock and realized that exactly six months before we were laying there in the exact same spot with a newborn baby girl cuddled between us, just minutes old. I cannot believe how fast the time has gone. Sweet and sad and joyous all at the same time.

And again, I've neglected to post photos of her from last month. We're taking more today, and I'll try to be a little more prompt in showing them off. :-)

And just so I don't forget them myself, a few milestones from this past month:
  • She's turned into a great sleeper! We moved her from my bedside into my walk-in closet, and the darkness and quiet have helped her to go the stretch. She's still waking once to eat, but since she goes to bed at 7pm and sleeps until 9 or 10am, I'm totally fine with that. I never thought I'd have a baby with such a talent for sleep! Hooray!
  • She's found her voice. The babbles and chatter is so utterly adorable! My choir-mate, Ruth, was holding her after church this past Sunday and heard her squeaks and squawks. She wondered if she was crying but couldn't see her face since Susannah was up on her shoulder. Ruth asked a nearby lady to check, and was so tickled to hear that Susannah was "singing."
  • With good support, she'll sit up for a short time. Mike discovered this skill of hers, and it made him quite proud that he knew something about her that I didn't. :-)
  • Crawling can't be too far away. When I put her on the floor to play, she's rolling and scooting and reaching to get to whatever toy has her interest. She's never in the same spot for very long!
And just when you think she can't get any cuter and you can't love her any more, another month passes and both those things grow just a bit more. <3
