Halfway to one...

Dear Aaron,

It's been six months since you joined our family. The time has gone so quickly, yet we can't remember what life was like without you here. You've grown from a tiny, squalling newborn who didn't do much but eat and cry into a curious, bright-eyed little man who always has a smile ready. At church on Friday, I was carrying you in our blue sling, and a woman walked up and said, "He looks like he has such a sweet spirit." You do, indeed. I'm very thankful for your cheery disposition and easygoing attitude. I pray this sweetness sticks with you as you grow.

Yesterday you began to "scoot" around - you get your feet and knees tucked under, then launch yourself forward as you pull with your arms. We call it your inchworm crawl, and we know that the real thing isn't too far away. You're getting to be such a big boy!

I'm trying to enjoy every moment of your babyhood; it's short-lived, I know. Every cuddle is precious to me. Even when you wake me six times in the night for a snack, I love being close and feeling so needed. My favorite times lately are when you fall asleep in my arms while we sit in the rocking chair. For now, it's okay that it takes so long to get you to sleep. My rewards are your tiny hugs and megawatt smiles. These past six months have taught me so much about selfless living and putting the needs of another before my own. You're teaching me to be more like Jesus, Aaron, and I thank you for the education.

With all my love,
Mama
